Exhibition: “The Diary” – Photographs Taken By Smartphone

On the 9th of March 2017, Nest by AIA in collaboration with photographer Hai Thanh will be hosting the opening of “The Diary” – a photography exhibition of photos taken by smartphone at Nest by AIA office at Vincom Ba Trieu center. The exhibition receives technical support and media sponsorship by Matca, Mobiovn and Tinhte, and takes place from 9th to 11th of March 2017.

The exhibition consists of photographs taken with smartphone by Hai Thanh in recent years. This is the result of his experiments in photography. For a working photographer like him, the smartphone could become a tool for taking images no less efficient than a professional camera.

On this special occasion, Hai Thanh shares: “Let’s just regard this exhibition as a personal diary of my own journey, of what has become part of my life. Thoughts and feelings towards these images are all yours. For my part, these are simply an honest autobiography and genuine emotions from the bottom of my heart, now laid open to share with you guys.”

Hai Thanh was born Do Thanh Hai in 1972. He is well known as a contemporary documentary photographer. Graduated from Vietnam University of Industrial fine arts, Hai Thanh has been active in the national and international photography scene, including participating in Indochina Media Memorial Foundation workshops in 2007 and 2010, hosting personal exhibitions Life Stories (2016), On the move (2008) and 24h (2010) in Vietnam and France, joining group exhibitions ‘This day of change’ (2009) in Japan, and ‘Blow-up’ (2010) in Cambodia. He has also participated in the series of exhibitions Mobilegraphy (2015), a part of Everyday Project in New York amd Istanbul. He is a frequent contributor for @EverydayVietnam on Instagram.

Hai Thanh is currently pursuing personal projects and hosting workshops in Vietnam.
