#matcaspotlight January ’18

In the last month before Tet, Matca is delighted to have visual artist Le Giang to curate her favorite images from #matcaspotlight. Let’s see what has caught the eye of the fresh 30 Under 30 artist nominated by Forbes Vietnam.

Picking 5 images for #matcaspotlight January 2018 from thousands of submitted works is no easy task.  I have taken a careful look at the batch multiple times and consider whether to choose based on a particular theme or on a set of criteria. Eventually, I decided to choose works whose unique perspectives speak to me. They consist of photoos by vuzon34, quanngo01, ducktran27, andy.ip and an.alog.

Looking back again at my selection, I realize these 5 images by 5 different authors are similar in their urban life setting. Perhaps cities are a source of inspirations for photographers as the interactions between humans and humans, humans and objects, the natural and the artificial,… are full of tension. The works below have reckoned and pointed out such tension and conflicts.
