Residency at Matca: An Interdisciplinary Space in Hanoi, Vietnam For Lens-Based Artists
Matca invites artists and researchers whose practice involves lens-based image making to apply to our residency program.
The residency will suit those seeking an independent space to pursue their artistic endeavors. Participants will cover their own expenses and self-direct their residency. They are not required to work on or complete any specific project, however, we encourage identifying a topic of interest so as to make best use of their stay. It is highly recommended that participants utilize the available resources and tailor their residency according to their own needs. With our professional knowledge and network, Matca will provide technical and artistic assistance if necessary.
We also believe that the most fruitful conversations take place over ice-cold beer.
Location
Matca's residency space is on the 6th floor of the creative complex at 48 Ngoc Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, on top of Sóng Sánh Café, Matca Space for Photography, and studio. Located at the political center of Vietnam, it is immediately surrounded by sights of historical significance including the Ho Chi Minh Museum, B-52 lake, and Lenin park where skateboarders hang out every afternoon, to name a few. The quaint neighborhood will also provide artists with fascinating insights into local life as well as the city’s booming art scene. They will also benefit from interacting with our team and our frequent rotation of events such as talks, portfolio reviews, and heated discussions on creative differences. Supermarkets, public transport, and many well-known food and drink establishments are within walking distance.
